2018 Reading Challenge

Believe it or not, 2018 is right around the corner! In preparation, I have been thinking a lot about what I want from this year. Last year, at this time, I wrote about why I don’t believe in resolutions, but the hopeful in me is always setting these goals anyway. I think 2018 is going to be an amazing year. Not just personally, but also here on the blog. I also have some hefty reading goals. My Goodreads challenge is 30 books (it was 26 this year and I am SO close!), so, to help myself reach this goal, I’ve made a personal reading challenge to help me through it. (And a printable version for you!)

My Personal 2018 Reading Challenge:

  • A book that’s been on your TBR list too long
  • An audiobook
  • A book with a one-word title
  • A book that will make you smarter
  • A book published before you were born
  • A book longer than 500 pages
  • A book someone recommended to you
  • A book your mom loves
  • A biography
  • A book from the banned book list
  • A book being made into a movie this year
  • A book by an author you love
  • A book by a new author
  • A book published this year
  • A book that intimidates you
  • A book you started reading but never finished
  • A book found on a high school reading list
  • A New York Times bestseller
  • A book that you’ve already seen the movie for
  • A book about something you love
  • A book in a genre you never read
  • A book set somewhere you want to visit
  • A book you chose based on the cover
  • A funny book
  • A book with bad reviews
  • A book of short stories (or poems)
  • A book that has received an award
  • Any book (freebie, just in case you need it)
  • A book that fits 3 or more of these categories
  • A book with a great first line

Since you’re here, I’m just going to assume you’re part of the reading community. As such, you’ve probably discovered that there are a HECK of a lot of challenges we readers take part in. It’s fun! But you may be wondering how (and where) we (I) keep track of it all. Along with the excessive use of Goodreads, I keep a little notebook with me at all times that I use to keep track of my various things. But in addition to this, I’m going to make a little spot on the blog where YOU can see what I’ve been up to. In a few days (hopefully), you’re going to see a new page show up here on Molly’s Madness called challenges.

On the challenges page, I will update my progress on my Goodreads challenges and personal challenges (like this one). I hope that you hop on over and check it out!

Now that you have dutifully made it through this post, I will offer you the printable version of my 2018 challenge (below). I love hearing from you so let me know if you’re going to take on this challenge with me (and how you’re doing as the year progresses)!

Let’s talk! Are you getting ready for the new year? Have you set any personal reading goals and challenges? Will you take part in this challenge with me?
