If We Were Having Coffee…

I’ve seen my favorite blogger of all time, Jamie, do this post called If We Were Having Coffee a few times before I started blogging. I’ve loved the idea and now I’ve even tried it a couple of times (you can read them here and here). These posts are a great way for me to reconnect with my blog (and the community) when I’ve accidentally fallen off the face of the earth (in terms of blog activity, I mean).

So grab your favorite drink (just plain old coffee with a shot of creamer for me right now) and let’s sit down for a chat with me.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I am currently reading The Children of Blood and Bone, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, and The Wicked City.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that my semester is FINALLY over. I have just over a year left to complete my thesis and I am FREAKING OUT a little (or a lot). It was a great semester, but I am just so thankful that it’s over and I can focus on other stuff (my thesis research, books, and spending time with my hubby) this summer.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I hated writing down that I was reading tree books because I discovered that I am a much more diligent reader when I read only one book. I was working really hard to read one book at a time and I think it’s important for me in order to keep to my reading goals. In addition, I’m able to read faster and enjoy the book more because I’m solely focused on it. But… somehow I’m reading three books right now? I can’t even tell you how it comes about. My mind just keeps coming back to the Gilmore Girls episode where Rory crams so many books into her backpack that she can’t fit her textbooks. You just need one for every kind of mood, right?

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that Zach and I are looking at buying a house. I love the idea of owning a home, but am I really old enough for this??? We’ve been renting for the last three years and it really seems like it’s time. But boy-OH-boy is the looking process stressful!!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I am so glad SUMMER is finally here!! The last couple of years there has been basically no spring, we just jump from the 40s to 70s. I’m okay with it but, at the same time, I kind of miss spring. The in between. BUT I have gotten out some shorts and dresses, I even got sunburned on a hike! (Get this, it was six miles and I CARRIED sunscreen in my pack the ENTIRE WAY. I just forgot to put it on… :/ )

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I am so THANKFUL that it is summer because I am super gearing up for writing. Jackie over at Death by Tsundoku recently went through a blog overhaul (with some major problems) and she recently did a post called We’re Back, Baby! 5 Things I Learned During an Unplanned Hiatus and it really made me remember WHY I blog and what it means for me. So I’m planning to schedule several posts over the next couple weeks (and MAYBE get caught up on my review 😉 ).

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I went to a yoga class last week that REALLY hit home. During meditation, I was reminded that I am unique and there is no one like me. I really needed to hear that. I turn 23 in a  month (YIKES!!) and I think this is the year for me 🙂 I’m going to really focus on self-care and self-respect (which, for me, includes both reading and blogging — so we’re covered!).

Tell me: what’s going on in your life?

Let’s talk!! What would YOU tell ME if we were sipping coffee across a table together? What are you reading? Are you in school? Do you read one book at a time or switch back and forth?
