If you’ve been around for a while, you’ve seen me do these posts before. I got the idea from an amazing blogger I’ve been following for years, Jamie at the Perpetual Page Turner. I love these posts. They help me get back into blogging if I’ve been MIA for a while or if I’ve got a lot going on that I would just like to share with you. So keep reading if you’d like to hear about where I’ve been up to since Christmas.
If we were having coffee… I would tell you that my hubby is at boot camp for the next 9 weeks. I know that it’s only boot camp. I know it is only a few weeks. I know it could be much worse, but that doesn’t stop me from missing him. I would tell you that it has been a HUGE challenge to go from feeding two people to feeding just me, I’ve been eating salads almost every night because I don’t want to cook a whole meal, but I am really sick of salads. I would tell you that I really want to use this time to be productive and get ahead on my thesis work, but I haven’t gotten my butt in gear yet. I would ask if you’ve ever been separated from your SO for a significant amount of time and what you did to get through it.
If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I got sucked into Warcross this weekend, but I’m also reading My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry, Redesigning Life, Six of Crows, and Station Eleven is sitting on my bedside table. I have really been struggling to get into books lately. Maybe that’s why I’m currently reading so many or maybe my reading too many led to this problem. I would ask you what you’re reading and if you’ve been having a hard time getting into books this winter.
If we were having coffee… I would tell you that spring classes started last Monday and I’m already behind. Sometimes I say this and mean “I’m an A student and I’m not ahead so I’m behind,” but now I’m saying it and meaning “I give a presentation Tuesday and I don’t really know what it’s about.” I feel like the semester took off at a rapid pace and I need to spend a long weekend (like this one) getting caught up. I would as if you are in school and how that is going for you.
If we were having coffee… I would tell you the weather has been snowy and dreary for the last four days. I do love this weather, especially for reading and relaxing, but I am starting to get a little bit of cabin fever. I’ve also been doing a bunch of research on hygge and I think I may give it a try. I would ask you what your weather is like and if you embrace hygge/what you think about the art of cozy and comfort in these cold and dark months.
If we were having coffee… I would tell you that reading is a challenge for me lately. I spend so much time reading textbooks, books for class, and research articles that, by the time I get around to free time, I just want something that doesn’t require me to do anything like watching TV. Which sucks. I love reading, I love the escape it provides, but my brain is tired. I would ask you about your reading habbits and how you get through a slump like this.
